Helicopter Services under MHA 75% subsidy scheme
Manipur Heli Service under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India subsidy Scheme (75:25) was launched in September, 2018 connecting Tamenglong, Jiribam and Moreh to Imphal and was operated successful. Under the same scheme, new routes have been added namely (i) Imphal – Churachandpur on 10-06-2023 (ii) Imphal to Aizwal via Churachandpur on 27-09-2023 (iii) Imphal to Lairouching on 05-07-2023 and (iv) Imphal to Dimapur via Lairouching on 01-11-2023 (v) Imphal –Ukhrul on 11.03.2024. In addition to the normal passenger service, the helicopter is also used by the State Government in emergency purposes.
Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) - UDAN 2 .0 Scheme
Under the RCS UDAN 2.0 Scheme of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India has approved and sanctioned an amount of Rs. 52.13 crores for construction and development of 5 (five) Heliports at Jiribam, Moreh, Parbung, Thanlong and Tamenglong. A sum of Rs. 22.24 crore was deposited to Manipur Police Housing Corporation Ltd. For construction of heliports at 5 locations i.e. Jiribam, Moreh, Pherzwal, Parbung and Tamenglong.
The scheduled operations under the RCS UDAN Helicopter service have been launched on 13/03/2024 on the following routes: (i) Imphal – Jiribam, (ii) Jiribam – Tamenglong, (iii) Tamenglong – Jiribam, and (iv) Jiribam – Imphal.
UDAN International Air operation under 100% viability gap funding by government of Manipur.
Under the International Air Connectivity Scheme (IACs), Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India has approved for 2 international routes, namely, Imphal – Bangkok – Imphal and Imphal – Mandalay- Imphal under the International Air Connectivity Scheme (IACs).
Out of these 2 approved routes, Letter of Award (LOA) for operation of Imphal -Mandalay-Imphal has been issued to M/s SpiceJet Ltd by Airport Authority of India (AAI) in the month of July, 2022. Further, process for operation of the flight has been delayed due to the prevailing unrest of Myanmar Government.
